On 8th August 2018, two coaches with 108 residents from Mundford and the surrounding area were treated to a tour of the Stanford Training Area (STANTA). This was a rare opportunity to see the area that was evacuated in 1942 to be dedicated to military exercises. It includes replicas of North European and Afghan villages which are used to prepare personnel for deployment to those and similar destinations.
Funds were raised from ticket sales and voluntary donations. Having deducted the cost of the coaches, £374 has been donated to Stanta Central Bank which will be shared between the following charities: the Army Benevolent Fund, Help for Heroes, the Soldiers, Sailors and Air Force Association and the Battle Area Churches Restoration Fund.
Thanks to Pauline Angus, Parish Clerk for organising the tour.
