Pavements for Pedestrians
If dog fouling on pavements is unpleasant, cyclists on pavements are dangerous, and illegal, yet the practice has become common recently, and not just in Mundford. Car parking on pavements is also illegal. See an article in the September 2016 issue of Connect, which goes into more detail.
Below are the relevant rules from the Highway Code:
Rule 64
You MUST NOT cycle on a pavement.
Rule 244
You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.

Change of Venue for the Aug’16 Parish Council Meeting
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the venue for the Parish Council Meeting on 4th August, has been changed. It will be held in The Coach House, The Crown Inn, Crown Road. Time to remain the same @ 7.30pm.
Memorial Plaque to Mary-Ann
Long term Mundford resident, Miss Mary-Ann Turner, bequeathed some land along Pig Sty Lane to the Parish Council after she passed away in July 2012. This is now used for six allotments, available for a small annual rent to residents of Mundford. The Parish Council are pleased to announce that a memorial plaque has recently been installed on the site.
STANTA Tour Report 2016
On 20th July 2016, two coaches full of residents from Mundford and the surrounding area were treated to a tour of the Stanford Training Area (STANTA). This was a rare opportunity to see the area that was evacuated in 1942 to be dedicated to military exercises. It includes replicas of North European and Afghan villages which are used to prepare personnel for deployment to those and similar destinations.
A total of £614.40 was raised – £380.00 will pay for the coaches and £234.40 has been donated to Stanta Central Bank which will be shared between the following charities: the Army Benevolent Fund, Help for Heroes, the Soldiers, Sailors and Air Force Association and the Battle Area Churches Restoration Fund.
Thanks to Pauline Angus, Parish Clerk for organising the tour.
Some comments from those on the tour were:
I just wanted to say a big thank you to all concerned with organising the STANTA trip. Charlotte & I really enjoyed it, and it is yet another positive experience of living in Mundford. Thanks again! Carl Pryke
Just to say thank you for organising the STANTA trip, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Best regards, Sue Owner

New Church Boiler
Everyone at St Leonard’s would like to thank all those who helped to make the recent Flower festival such a success. As a result of your generosity, the church has been able to pay for the recently installed boiler which has replaced the old, worn out one, so the church will be warmer over winter.
New Vicar
Our new vicar, Rev’d Zoe Ferguson will lead her first services on July 10th. Zoe’s licensing service will be at St Leonard’s on July 7th. Please note that all tickets have been allocated.
