Arboretum Volunteers Needed

Are you looking for something to do on a Wednesday and Sunday morning. We are a small group who maintain the Arboretum. We meet 6 mornings a month between 9 am and 12 noon. Have a break for a coffee and biscuits (very important) at 10.30 am in the Lodge. And enjoy a sociable time. The Arboretum is a lovely area to work in, we do a bit of mowing, pruning, tree and shrub planting, bracken and nettle control. If you are interested come along and introduce yourself or ring Roger Powell on 878585.

Litter Pickers – Thanks

On a cold day in early April we had a hardy bunch of volunteers show up to help with the litter picking throughout the village and surrounding roads leading into Mundford , it was a grey drizzly day but this did not deter our team. So thank you again to all who showed up on that day it is very much appreciated by the Parish Councillors and Mundford residents.

We meet approximately every 6 weeks so if you have an hour or so to spare and would like to join our team please contact the clerk.

Selling Cars

Please note that Norfolk County Council has informed the Parish Council that it is illegal to sell cars from a public highway, this includes laybys and turning areas in the village. The County Council has asked the Parish Council to contact those that are selling cars to stop this immediately.

Church boiler – help needed

St Leonard’s Church has an oil fired boiler which is in a poor condition and needs to be replaced this year. It is the sole source of heat in the building and its replacement is vital if we are to maintain a warm welcome for regular worshippers and visitors alike. This will result in a significant challenge to church finances in 2016, So we would be very grateful for any financial assistance.

If you are able to hep, please send your donation to the church treasurer; Peter Dennis, 2 Swaffham Road, Mundford, Thetford, IP26 5EH, tel. 01842 878562 or email. Cheques should be made payable to Mundford PCC.

Very many thanks to you all.

Christmas Tree Lights On

On Saturday 28th November, despite the wet weather, a good crowd turned out to the village green to watch as this year’s Christmas tree and pub lights were switched on. Louise Hillman from Lynford Hotel who had sponsored the tree, had the honour of flicking the switch.

There was Carol Singing by the Village Voices Choir and afterwards the Crown Hotel served mulled wine and mince pies, raising over £100 for charity.

Photos from the event follow.
